Maintenance Recipes: Checking the Oil
What you'll need:
• Oil
• Paper Towel or Rag
• Funnel or Oil Spout
Keep these things in your car and handy. This routine task is very simple, takes three simple steps and adds life to your engine. Here's what you need to do:
(1) Pop the hood of your car
(2) Pull out the oil stick
(3) Check the oil level
Your oil should be at least halfway to the full mark. If your oil is low, take out a quart of oil, grab your funnel, remove the oil cap and pour the oil in. Let the oil settle then recheck the oil level.
NOTE: Don't forget to put the oil cap back on!
