Incoporating Car Maintenance Into Your Daily Routine
Maintaining your car can be cumbersome for busy women. With all that needs to be done, how can you begin to incorporate car maintenance into your daily routine?
Here are 5 simple tips for staying on track when it comes to maintaining your car.
- When you gas up, check your tire pressure and your oil. One thing we have to do that we definitely don't forget is to get gas. When you stop for gas, do a simple walk around check of your tires to check the air pressure, then pop the hood and check your oil. If you've been diligent and taken the advice at Car-Buy-Her, you have your emergency kit with an extra quart of oil if you need it.
- Schedule regular maintenance just like you schedule everything else. Instead of keeping a separate log for car maintenance, why not put everything together. Let's face it, trying to keep up with three or four schedules is way too complicated, so start scheduling your car maintenance just like everything else --- add regular maintenance check-ups to your palm pilot, Outlook Calendar, or any other electronic or paper schedule that works for you.
- Make a point of reading your Owner's Manual. You know, that book that's in your glove compartment. It's there for a reason and you can get a much better understanding of your car and it's maintenance routine if you take it out from time to time to review it.
- Begin a Weekly Cleaning Schedule – Women's cars can become very messy from working out of the car to hauling children from school and activities. One way to resolve that is to begin a weekly cleaning schedule. Once a week, make a point of clearing out the car, vacuuming, and freshening the car up. Spending time in a clean car is a lot more comfortable than spending time in a dirty one.
- Keep a book and reading material in your car – When you do have to make that trip to the car repair shop, keep yourself occupied by making sure you have something to read or work on while you wait. Time spent at a repair shop will go a lot quicker if you have something to keep you busy. This can help you stay on schedule and feel less stressed about having to take time away from other things.
