Car-isma
and How to Leverage Your Sex Appeal When Buying a Car Author:
Ed Brown
It is a foregone
conclusion that sex sells in our culture. For the woman who has mastered the rules
of engagement, you are well equipped to handle any car salesmen when you are looking
to buy a car. After all, in your quest to level the negotiating playing field,
your most potent weapon is your ability to create an illusion that will throw
off a salesman's balance and move you to gaining the most attractive deal in the
process. I took the liberty of interviewing a female friend of mine who is a master
at high- level negotiations (she actually negotiates settlements for a large insurance
company). Judy (name change to protect the guilty) says that men are extremely
visual and while they are not necessarily moved by every emotion, sexual appeal
is very emotional for them. I can attest that the sight of an attractive woman
increases my heart and breathing rate. If she shows subtle interest in me, she
has tapped into my baser instincts and has already begun leveling the playing
field for negotiations. Judy, who is attractive and has an athletic build says,
" I first go into a negotiations with all my homework done. I already know
what I want and the range I am willing to pay." As you are buying your car,
experts suggest that you know the invoice price of the vehicle and offer a few
hundred dollars above that price. Another alternative is getting a series of price
quotes and fax them to various dealerships to bait them in providing their best
price on a vehicle before ever stepping into the showroom. The game is basically
over at that point, but we are getting ahead of ourselves. Invariably,
I am recommending that you create an ally through sex appeal that promotes future
opportunities through friendships and mutually beneficial alliances. Judy says."
I know most men want sex from many of the attractive women they meet. I never
compromise myself in the process, but I show that I am well-informed and can be
playful as I am conversing with him. Subtlety is the way of leveraging your power.
A certain glance, a light touch and interest in helping him make future sells
are all part of massaging the fantasy." He is still thinking about her physical
appeal, but as they get to know each other after the initial contact, he sees
her in a different light. He now sees her as a capable ally apart from a mere
physical specimen. The sexual appeal dissipates and is replaced by a true connection
and care. Although he may have started out with specific motives by going the
extra mile to woo her, he can't get upset when his intentions don't pan out. He
has played himself! You created the fantasy, but you never promised anything from
it. You might say, this is a bit much for a car. It's about the car, but more
importantly, it's about how to maneuver on the stage of life. In this instance,
the salesman wants to get the most money he can from a sale. You want to get your
ideal car for the least amount of money. The interests between the two are seemingly
irreconcilable. However, people bend over backwards for those they like or feel
connected to. You didn't have any leverage when you decided to buy a car. Through
information and understanding human nature you created not only leverage, but
power. By using your sex appeal to alter the environment, you got what you wanted
and created a friend. You both got more than you bargained for. To recap Judy's
s steps: - First realize that men are and will forever
be visuals beings
- Do your homework and articulate what you want.
- Create an illusion of future opportunities without making any promises
- Allow a friendship to ensue that turns both parties into allies
- In the quest to attract you, let him serve as a benefit and reciprocate
when possible
(never crossing the line.) - As long as your
words and actions are consistent, invariably his sexual interest will change to
be more plutonic
- In the end, you have gotten your car and created
a new friend and ally
While many people will find such strategies slightly
manipulative, you have actually leveled the playing field.
